The friendly skies...

They'd better be friendly, for as much time as we're spending there.

Here's the agenda, for those of you who have Google Earth and a lot of time on your hands:

• Nov. 10th - leave LA, fly to Kennedy Airport, fly to Hamburg Germany
• Nov. 11th - overnight layover in Dubai
• Nov. 12th - arrive in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
• Nov. 12 - 17: Week in Ethiopia- at Layla House and the Guest House
• Nov. 17th - leave Ethiopia, back through Dubai, Germany, and New York
  
• Nov. 18th - arrive in St. Louis, via Cincinnati
  
• Nov. 18 - 24: Week in Bethalto, Illinois (the happiest place on earth)
• Nov. 24th - fly home to LA

We're Expecting...

Not much to post about our adoption process... still in the waiting game.

But, I've got to tell you that hearing my wife say "we're expecting" when talking to friends really puts this whole thing in perspective.

Sure, we're expecting a letter or expecting a call rather than labor pains, we're still expecting.

Which is good, because now I have an excuse to put on some sympathy baby weight. Sure, Carrie hasn't put any on, but I'm not going to let her being an underachiever stop me.

What's this all about?

Welcome-
This is the second blog I've attempted, and is one that will not be published on Google. So, if you found it, you must have been looking... :)

On my other site, I'd done quite a bit of writing/thinking about my family of origin. Some of this was due to the passing of my grandfather, some of this was just due to the season of life I've been in for a while, and some was due to our getting ready to adopt in the (not to distant) future.

What I realized, judging from the traffic, was that there were a group of people who wanted to read family stuff (mostly my relatives, duh) and that other regulars were more interested in the random faith/culture/higher education/sports things that I would post.

So, welcome to an attempt to dissect my life even further.

What I'll mostly be posting on here in the coming days/months are things moved over from the old site; thoughts about my family, my grandfather's funeral, etc. As time progresses, this will eventually end up being the place that I write about our adoption process.

Feel free to comment... If you're here, you're probably family and should be a part of this story.
