This morning my sweet Grandma left this world behind. I know she's overjoyed to be home with the Lord - in her Heart's True Home. In fact, if she could write me another letter, I would imagine that she would say, "What a great day to go to Heaven!" which, incidentally, is exactly what my Uncle Tom said to my Mom when they talked on the phone today. Grandma has always been full of life, but I imagine that today she's absolutely giddy. As my sister-in-law, Michelle, said, "I can see her dancing and celebrating with Jesus!"
Although I'm happy for her, I'm sad for me and for all of us who love her so dearly. I'm sad to think of life without her mostly illegible letters waiting in my mail box, without her cheerful voice on the other end of the line, without visits to Hilltop and walks down the lane with her, without her hug, her smile, her prayers, her effervescent faith, her truly authentic presence in our lives...
My precious Grandma, what a gift you have been! Your influence in my life - in the lives of so many - will last far beyond your years on this earth. I'm so very glad that we'll see you again someday! Until then, may your children, your grandchildren, and your great-grandchildren carry on your mission of loving people to Jesus.
Proverbs 31:28-29
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”
but you surpass them all.”
